I just watched this trending Japanese Dolnald Trump Video created by Mike Diva. From the standpoint of entertainment, art and advertising it is awesome. The Japanese twist is brilliant, vibrant music and attention to detail is brilliant. Did you notice the neon Swastikas or the launched nuclear weapons when he lovingly embraces the girl? If you watched it and don’t know why you liked it, that’s the magic of brilliant artwork appealing to the senses.
On Youtube it had already amassed almost 3million views within 48 hours. Donald himself or (Hillary for that matter) would find this kind of publicity super valuable. Politicians are starting to understand what a viral video can do, what kind of engagement turn people on. How long ago would you have ruled out the possibility of the US president, one of the world’s most powerful humans going on late night TV in his time singing Slowjams in a comedy sketch the way Barack Obama did the other day?
For me I think Donald trump has been successful for a range of reasons and circumstances. I put a high percentage on the state of modern day politics, its abundance in fake people, disingenuous statements, liars and corruption. We can see that the emperor is not wearing any cloths. That aside, Trump is the undisputed leader in entertainment. He blurts out whatever is on his mind, he makes you laugh (either on purpose or accidentally) and regardless of if you love or hate him, you can’t help but watch him.
Marketers have known for years how to appeal to the parts of us that keeps that brand or product tucked away in the back of our mind, ready to pop up when we are looking to fulfil that need. Sometimes we just go on autopilot and don’t think about all the ways something has been advertised to us. It just happens to be the one we remember because it made us laugh, cry, shocked or amaze us. This is powerful stuff, ask any super brand.
So quite often I come across an awesomely creative person who is trying to make a business of selling something they create. They make an exquisite product with love care and attention; they spend years studying the best methods, experimenting and becoming amerced in their field. The problem is they loose out to a rival product that is half the quality. The difference is that the competitors took their time and energy to become an expert in the marketing and advertisement of their product. People don’t eben realise that there is a better product on the market. The true quality product gets drowned out.
It is up to you to decide if Trump is selling something quality in his presidential race, I can’t help you there. But Social media can and is the avenue that you can utilise to make sure that your quality does not get drown out competitors that simply know how to market better than you.
